A Roll In The Hague

If you have or will attend Oklahoma State University being obsessed with orange is an understatement. Instead, orange is a way of life. When you find something that is Pantone 166 (the official orange color) you feel obligated to purchase it. Not everyone in the nation appreciates this orange like we do, so you almost feel like it is your density to own whatever piece of apparel, accessory, shoe, or anything else you come across.

Today I came across two awesome finds, both being nail polish. I have a slight obsession with OPI. The fabulous orange color is A Roll In The Hague from the Holland collection. The next is called Save Me from none other than Nicki Minaj. I am looking forward to football season a little more each day.

What A Beautiful Sight

Sometimes we all need a reminder to slow down, take a breath, and stop to enjoy everything that is happening around us. Getting lost in the daily grind full of hustle and bustle is easy to do, guilty as charged. However Monday I was caught in the rain and instead of getting mad about it for the first time in my life I enjoyed it. I splashed in puddles and ran to my car in the pouring down rain without my umbrella.

If I would have been upset and tried to wait out the storm I would have missed this beautiful sight.

Five Things: Gianni Bini

It has been a wild week, talk about hectic.  This week has given a whole new meaning to TGIF!  Today I am going to show you some wonderful shoes.  The brand I am focusing on today is Gianni Bini.  In Oklahoma Dillard’s is about as fancy as you get in rural malls.  Living in Shawnee, I go there frequently to see what has come in, added to the sale, and what is on clearance.  Working in retail during undergrad, I think things rubbed off on me permanently.  Working retail, you know that new things are constantly coming in and changing.  I like to be in the know—like many of you.

This navy and white polka dot sling back peep toe wedge are so fun! It has a very youthful feel to it.  I want to snatch them up right now so I have them to wear with my crisp white crop pants or a white linen skirt.  Hello, spring and summer time!

Here is a fun flat option, the red and white stripes with a bow that is bedazzled!  Is there anything better than a flat—it’s comfortable, casual, and adds a great pop of color.  This is for all of you who need a break from the heels on the weekend.

This next wedge had me at orange paten shine!  Look at the scalloped lace orange detail on the cork wedge.  These could have a lot of practical uses for any orange/coral lover out there.  I see it being the springs go to color.  (Please note that I am no fashion expect—just fashion enthusiast)

Every girl needs a pair of red high heels.  Furthermore, I think it’s a good idea to have a spring/summer and a fall/winter option.  This heel to me screams nautical fun.  The wooden heel is a great added bonus, I love that look.  Just imagine all of the sundresses belted with a brown belt and these heels—total show stopper from casual to dressy

There are no words for this other than funky!  I am having a love hate relationship this wedge.  It could go tacky in a hurry if not done right.  However, it goes with about any color in your closet.  Such a party in a shoe!

Give Thanks

Yesterday when I got off work I had a treat waiting for me in my mailbox. You know me, I love snail mail! It had me at hello you-- the hot pink padded envelope. My mommy knows me all to well, I am her pretty pink princess all the way!

What was in this pink envelope has a powerful message that I wanted to share with you all. The little bracelet you see pictured is what you call the Blessing Bracelet. From what I can tell my mom got it at my favorite store in Pawhuska.

It came with a massage that says: Whenever you wear it acknowledge one blessing in your life for each pearl on the bracelet. Each time you are drawn to the bracelet, silently find four people or things you can be grateful for.

Be grateful for: you children (which I don't have yet), a flower (pictured above from Jered on Valentine's Day), your dog, a perfect cup of coffee (always a blessing!), a roof over your head-just find something. The more you wear the bracelet and the more blessings you find, the more
you will be blessed.

In one year, if followed, you will be aware of a profound change in your life. That's pretty deep stuff, but I am glad my mon sent it to me. I need to stay positive and not let the little things bog me down.

Wanna Build A Snowman

You would think in my 23 years of existence I would be accustomed to the weather elements, specifically snow. I consider myself more of a beach babe rather than a snow bunny. I just do not do winter, we do not get along well.

Speaking of someone not getting along with winter; check our the video is this precious pooch. She was really caught by surprise.

Let me just talk about how being grown up is not that much fun. Especially on a snow day, I would much rather be snuggled up on the couch watching movies. All of the Facebook posts and tweets made me a little sad.

Infect Someone With Kindness

I love talking to strangers at the coffee shop. Maybe it's my smile or friendly appearance, I am not sure what it is but I always end up talking to random people. It just puts a smile on your face... Today, it was a little girl in her Sunday's best. I told her that she looked so pretty today. She ended up hugging me, my heart melted a little.

I came across this and it really put a few things into perspective . Random acts of kindness make the world go round. It restores your faith back to the human population.

My family always reminded me how to deal with enemies growing up; it as simple as this, kill them with kindness. I know we should be able to be friends with everyone, but we all know that this isn't the case. It's human nature...

She’s Country

It’s so nice to be back online and in touch with the rest of the world.  The past couple of days has truly been a whirlwind! I am ready for things to slow down but that is not going to happen anytime soon.  I am still slowly unpacking, almost everything is in order.  For instance, this weekend I finally found two king size pillows for my new bedding.  You would be surprised at how tricky it is to find the right one.

I had the chance to work at the Central District Livestock Show that was held here in Shawnee.  I was out of the office all day Friday working the goat show and had a blast doing it.  It is amazing to me to work with kids who are so passionate about their livestock project.  It really makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy because I remember the passion that I had at that age.  It is important that these youth be ambassadors for agriculture, we have to teach and tell them the right information so they are not mislead.  After I wrapped up at the stock show, I went to Starbucks to clear my mind, relax, and read.  It was humorous because I was in “county” clothes and the baristas almost didn’t recognize me, totally priceless!

I am almost finished with this book!

Pretty sure I was on a seven-year-olds dream date this weekend—shopping at the mall with a break for a warm chocolate chip cookie and dippin’ dots.  Some things will never change…There is nothing wrong with staying true to who you are.  Only you know who the real you is deep down inside.  The true Lindsey (channeling my inner child), will never stop believing that I am a Disney princess.  I know it might be a little ridiculous and dramatic, but that is just me—love it or leave it.
